Okay, I'm using this since the site's being weird and whenever I try to post a comment it won't let me appear as me because it keeps signing me out for some weird reason, but I'm replying to the most recent comment by Karen. I only tried a small bit of haggis, but thank you! And yes, Iron Bru is good, and I miss it so much because I can't find it anywhere in the U.S. because Mom says that it's expensive to import pop. But I shall get some if I ever see it anywhere...

Past Events

I'm super sorry I haven't posted in a while (a long while, at that) but I kept telling myself to post and I kept forgetting. So, what happened while I was negligent and didn't post: Mom and I went to Edinburgh (Scotland) and London (England). In Scotland, they have the nicest people ever! While we were at the airport, the passport lady struck up a conversation with us and it was cool, especially with her accent! Oh, I love British accents. Though you can hardly ever understand what the Scottish are saying. But, while we were in Scotland, on our first day, we met up with one of Mom's Scottish friends and we went out to lunch! I got introduced to Iron Bru, which is a Scottish or British drink kind of... vanilla-y, or orange-y. Both! And then I was brave enough to try haggis! Haggis, according to the dictionary, is a Scottish dish containing sheep and lamb intestines. It was actually good, though... So, Scotland was fun! And then... London. I didn't really like London. It was too busy for me, what with the hustle and bustle of the Underground. But the British Library was absolutely AMAZING! So many books! I wish I could've stayed there all day, but Mom and I had to go to see the Dirt Museum, or something like that. The Dirt Museum was all about dirt, and the organisms which are in dirt, and what artistry you can perfrom with dirt, and the role dirt played in old London society. It was actually interesting.

Vienna, tram crash

it's official: they got the other tram on the tracks, drove it away, and r now cleaning up the remnants.

Vienna, tram crash

they moved 1 tram, and soon (i hope) theyll get the other on the tracks, because it swerved off of the tracks...

Vienna, tram crash

Now they're picking up the broken glass...

Vienna, tram crash

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Vienna was beautiful! we lived near a cathedral that looked blackened and burned, and there was a square with performers and it was cool! Also, we went to Trieste and it was awesome! We went to like, 5 cafes in 1 day and they all served potato chips. Weird... also, there was 1 cafe that had potato chips uneaten at a table that the people left it and the (stupid) pigeons attacked the potato chips. Now, as for the tram crash, 2 trams crashed literally outside our building and it was awesome! 1 tram was going straight and the other was turning and they crashed! I'll put pictures as soon as they load. Anyway, so the policija are standing around trying to figure out how to move the tram and a crane arrived, then people are standing at the curb, trying to figure out what happened and taking pictures. It was awesome! No, no one was hurt, thank goodness. but the policija are still there and the crane is doing nothing and it's an intersection, so cars can't go that way, and they're annoyed. My pictures are still uploading, so I'll wait a while to post this. But people are still standing near the trams and taking pictures, if less people. Mom says I should sell my pictures to the newspaper, because we could see the trams from our window and I took pictures from our window which is up hight on the 4th floor (American 4th floor) and then I went down (to Mom's suggestion) to take more pictures and it was awesome!

Outdoor Ed

At my school, each year the 6th graders get to go to something called "Outddoor Education" where they go to some forest for 2 nights and unfortunately, I wasn't there this year to go, so Mom said we could have out own Outdoor Ed: Sitting somewhere in a cafe with a Sprite and a ice cream. We did that today! I'm so happy! So, nothing new is happening right now. My grandparents will come on Tuesday and then sometime that week we'll all go to Vienna! Yay!

Dubrovnik and Split

I just came back from Split! First, we went to Dubrovnik and there were a lot of steps but on the first night we went to this restaurant called Moby Dick that has really good seafood! I had shrimp spaghetti and a bit of sea bass and for dessert i had the best vanilla ice cream in the world on top of sugared strawberries!!!! YUM!!! Then we went to Split and it was awesome! Split didn't have as many steps and on top of that, I got a TV! I was watching some German show with a really weird thing that turned out to be bread. Here's a picture:
He looks weird, doesn't he? Also, Split apparently has fancy hot chocolates! Here's a picture of a hot chocolate that I took a few bites out of:

And while in Split we went to Diocletion's (or however you spell it) cellar's and we found this cool soccer room! Here's a picture of these foam guys that were cheering on the soccer game:
And here's a picture of the flower guys that were playing in the game (or at least 1 of them):

And here's a picture I took of a candy corn cactus:
Those are my favorite pictures.

Venice

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I was busy getting ready for Grandma and Aunt T, then going to Venice, then having Dad and Quinn for the week. Dad keeps stealing my potato chips and Quinn keeps stealing my laptop. Not literally stealing, but she and I have turns every half hour or so. Venice was beautiful! I rode on Vaporettos (water buses) and a gondola! Our gondolier was very nice, and the gondola kept almost tipping us all over the edge. I had lots of pizza and ice cream there. They have very good pizza. I didn't have pasta, though... yesterday Mom, Dad, Quinn, and I went to- I don't care if I spelled this wrong- Platvitza Lakes! The park owners actually had log bridges built OVER the water and some of the waterfalls, so it was cool. Almost like Yosemite, but not quite. On the day Quinn and Dad leave, Aunt Robin and Uncle David come, and they're staying for- some amount of time, and then Grandma and Grandpa come on May 17th, and then Mom's having someone she knows online but has never met in person come in June. We might go to Paris and London in June, but Mom doesn't know yet.

ljubljana

2 days ago me, mom, and a friend of hers went to Ljubljana! Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia, and we went there because there's a hill there with a funicular (or however you spell it) that you can ride up! And at the top of the hill there was a castle with a tower that I went up! It had an elevator, but i didn't realize it until we reached the top. We also went because mom liked the name. I like it too, but it's hard to say. It's a weird name but funny at the same time!

Mom's B-day

yesterday was Mom's birthday! I wasn't able to post last night because we got back from dinner and dessert so late. But for dinner we went to this really cheap but fancy restaurant that has virtually ever food imaginable! Except for hamburgers. But I found this totally "me" meal! It was a steak filled with bacon and cheese with french fries on the side! It was huge but tasty! It was the 1st time in weeks I've had french fries! I was so happy. Then we went to the Sheraton, a hotel across the street, and had cheesecake! It was very fancy! Though, we've been to the Sheraton before for cheesecake, it was in a different restaurant and was fancier. The cheesecake we had before had strawberries on it and a sugar stick and another sugar thing, but it was crystal clear and was kind of fancy, like curved and that stuff... anyway, so this time we had the same cheesecake at a different restaurant, but with out the fany crystal-clear sugar thing. But it was still good!

Nothing much is happening right now. Mom and I have been to the movies 3 times now, which are across the street. I'm trying out every dessert place in Zagreb and so far all of them are delicious! I've tried mostly ice cream places, but also some cakes and other desserts!

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Today it snowed! It actually snowed! In the morning, it snowed big clumps of snow, but by the time i went outside, it was snowing tiny frozen droplets. The snow went down my shirt, into my eyes, and onto my hair. It was quite annoying snow. But it was cool!

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Today was AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I had to double the schoolwork since i had last week off. BUT in the middle of the day, Mom said I had worked hard enough on my schoolwork so I could take a break and we went shopping! We went to a department store, the book/movie store, and, best of all, THE CHOCOLATE BAR!!!!!!!!! I had this cake and it was really good! Also, mom bought me a donut! Of course, then afterwards, I had to go back to my schoolwork... :(

Pics

Here are some pictures I took on my motorcycle tour yesterday and today:

They are from top to bottom: the olympic gardens, the sagrada familia (church they're still building after 120 years), mediterranean beach, place built by Gaudi, 2 pics of gingerbread houses built by Gaudi, a square with LOTS and LOTS of pigeons (which dad would probably freak out about), a picture of the mediterranean sea taken from under Christopher Columbus's (in the picture below the picture of this) feet, a very official-looking building, the statue of Christopher Columbus, a very cool-looking wavy thing along the bridge over the Mediterranean, and a small thing near the Mediterranean Sea.

supermarkets

Okay, so me and mom went on a little walk to the main square here and there was this supermarket. It was so BIG! It pretty much kicked Raley's, Costco's, and all the other supermarkets in California's butts. It was so big you could name something and they would probably have it! Actually, on the way there, we went by this other supermarket and we thought it looked cool so we went inside and it was so cool! It had meat, all types of fruits and veggies, pastries, seafood, and lots more stuff! I saw the seafood and it was awesome! Excpet for the fact that the shrimp were so fresh their legs were still moving and the fish had eyes that STARED at you! I don't really like food that has eyes.

Steps

In our building there is one step outside to get to the door, 7 steps inside to get to the main hallway, and 73 steps to get to our apartment, all together 81 steps to our apartment, counting as my P.E. whenever we go up the steps.

Time

The time here is funny! Even though it's 9 hours ahead of california, it's still funny because all Europeans (I think) go on 'til 24:00! After 12 in the afternoon, they go to 13 then 14 then 15 and on! It's just so funny...

My Apartment

Our apartment is AWESOME!!!!!!!! The piano is beautiful but I haven't played on it yet, except for brief moments when I would start pressing a few of the keys but mom would tell me to get off. The kitchen is tiny, but still cool. There's a magnifecent study and a living room, which the piano is in. My bedroom is connected to mom's bedroom and a closet which leads to the bathroom. I just learned how to let mom in the building when she wants to. There's also a hallway which dad might complain is a "waste of space".

Arrival in Croatia

I'm finally here in Croatia! Our apartment is amazing! It has old furniture! And the piano is awesome but mom won't let me use it yet. Our apartment's backyard is the train station so we hear trains all day. And the screeching of the train as it comes to a stop. And occasionally a horn honking. Every room in the house has a heater except for mine. Mom can't find the hot water so someone's coming over to fix it. I HAVE A CELL PHONE!!!!!!!!!!! But I can only use it for emergencies, like a stampede of elephants is going through the living room.

Today was my first day of school! I had a GREAT day! Except for getting up this morning. I mean, I had to get up at 7! (On weekends I get up at 12 or longer). It was fun, though. I finished all my homework in school so I HAD NO HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Though when mom's home schooling me she says she'll give me piles and piles of homework. She even threatened to get a head start on it today!

Happy New year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I STAYED UP REALLY LATE LAST NIGHT AND NOW I'M HYPER!!!!! (calming down) I had a great time last night with my friend! We watched a movie (Pirates of the Caribbean) 'til about 4 in the morning. Well, she stayed up 'til 3 then fell asleep, but I stayed up 'til 4! I had a great new years. Mom found this pomegranite cider! It was tasty.
